So, what is an entrepreneurial mindset and why is it so important to living a more fulfilling life?
The entrepreneurial mindset is thinking in a way that is completely opposite to those who work a day job. Let’s face it, there just is no comparison. These individual’s mind allows them to grind while others are watching Netflix, to study why others are playing, and to chase their dreams while others are sleeping.
People who work day jobs think in terms of consistency, security, instant gratifications. The job mentality desires to have all the glories such as freedom, but not too many people are willing to do the necessary work. These individuals play it safe and just want to go to a job where they can put in the time, be given a task, collect a paycheck, and then go home.
But let us be honest. Is a job really the safe thing to do?
At a day job you are just another employee and if you are not making your employer money, well let’s just say you might be looking for another job.
Right?
Not to mention the fact that in today’s society, jobs are quickly being replaced by automation and computers. Take a look at Home Depot, Lowes, and Target to name a few. They have these automated checker stands which don’t need an actual person there.
Well at least until they run into problems…
Then there are the Bricks and Motor stores that are slowly going out of business because of all the marketing done through the internet.
What is an Entrepreneurial Mindset and Why it is Important
So, I say that if you are not thinking about changing to an entrepreneurial mindset, I suggest it time for you to start…
There are some people who actually love their jobs, but there are a lot of lost souls who are struggling and are looking for something else. Becoming an entrepreneur and doing what you love takes a strong commitment and will not be a walk in the park. But you are doing what you love.
In order to have an entrepreneurial mindset, you must think in terms of freedom, passion, purpose, adventure, and be willing to do whatever it takes to make it happen.
These individuals are the warriors who are slaying the dragon fighting to break free from their job that is sucking the life out of them. They are the ones who are working the late nights after they get home from their jobs, and on the weekends trying to build their empire.
The only thing keeping these visionaries from throwing in the towel is the fuel created by their dreams and passions.
While their friends are out partying and having a great time, these driven folks are working to fulfill their heart’s desires…
The entrepreneurial mindset is all about doing what other people are not willing to do in order to live a life other people will never be able to have. These key people are willing to invest money and time into their mindset, their business, their finances, and their future.
The job mentality spends their money on the stuff that makes them happy right now. They would rather spend money and time on Netflix, toys, luxuries, cars, boats, and the latest and greatest smartphones. They seek instant gratifications instead of long-term results…
I am not saying that these things aren’t on the minds of entrepreneurs, but rather that they are willing to make some sacrifices now so they can have these things later in life.
But not bound to the chains of debt, time, and limitations…
So, ultimately each and every one of you have a choice. You can either continue helping your employers build their dreams, or you make a shift with your mindset and build your own dream life.
Ultimately it is up to you to decide…
What are the Characteristics of the Entrepreneurial Mindset?
Many people just go through their life living paycheck to paycheck going to the same boring job. Day after day. Week after week and wondering why they can never get a break.
These individuals have cashed their dreams on a cubicle office where life seems to be more guaranteed.
I used to be like this. But then I woke up and realized I wanted to be free from the chains working for a corporation that doesn’t have my best interest in mind. I had big dreams and goals and I was willing to do whatever it takes.
I was willing to work the late nights and the early morning before I headed off to that unfulfilling job. But the whole time I was grinning ear to ear because I knew that the steps I was taking would be made manifest into my reality. Maybe not right at that very moment, but in due time.
The seeds I was sowing was going to be reaped when the season was right.
I knew in every cell of my being my time was coming and so is yours.
Are you with me?
Are you ready to go after that which your heart desires?
There are a small handful of people who think outside the box and see their future looking brighter. These dreamers are called entrepreneurs and more people are starting to WAKE UP and take their lives back.
Entrepreneurs are risk-takers and they know down to the core of their being that they will succeed no matter what happens.
Their dreams are so strong, and they know wholeheartedly that they will succeed. Even if it takes them years to accomplish their goals.
The characteristics of an entrepreneurial mindset are full of grit, passion, sacrifice, discipline, and repetition. But they see something most people don’t see. That is FREEDOM…
Many people have tried going after their dream life but when it gets tough, they quit. This is what separates those who score the winning touchdown in the last 5 seconds and those crumble under pressure. Because having a winning mindset in the business world is all about wanting the ball and scoring BIG TIME.
Not everyone is cut out to become a successful entrepreneur. But if you have a burning desire to live a life on your terms, then follow the steps below on how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.
5 Steps on Having a Successful Entrepreneurial Mindset
Step 1 Vision
Having a vision is the number one thing to having a winning mindset in the entrepreneurial world. Because if you do not know where you are heading in life, you will end up wandering aimlessly.
But if you can put a mental picture backed with an emotional connection, then you have yourself a vision.
A great example would be climbing Mt. Everest. You can see yourself on top of this Mountain staring out across the clouds. You can feel the cool wind against your face. Your body is filled up with energy and vitality because you just accomplished what seemed impossible.
This is a vision for your future. But this is merely the end result. You got to train for this expedition physically and mentally. There is going to be some studying of the mountain terrain and routes will need to be established. Guides will need to be hired.
Gear and food will need to be gathered.
Successful business owners could see clearly in their mind how they wanted their life to look like. Then they used this to keep them moving forward as they failed their way to the top.
Nickolas Tesla could see his inventions in his mind before they were built. The Write Bros. could see the airplane in their mind but had many failed attempts before they were able to succeed.
Roger Banister could see in his mind running a 4-minute mile. He was told it was impossible. The human heart couldn’t handle it. But he knew to the core of his being he could do it. He trained using visualizing techniques and he was able to break the record. After that, the record was beaten again by another person. The reason being was because the paradigm was broken and other athletes believed they could.
Dreams all begin with a vision. This is the force that keeps them rising above their circumstances.
Step 2 Passion
Passion is huge when it comes to having a winning mindset in the entrepreneurial world. Because passion is the fuel needed to pull you out of bed every morning while the rest of the world is still sleeping.
Passion keeps you going even though you are not making a dime
Passion keeps you pulling yourself up every time you get knocked down.
Because let’s face it. Nobody likes being pushed. But if you are pulled, well that is another story.
Right?
So, start digging a little deeper into the core of your being and find what moves you. Then spend the rest of your life on how to make a living doing it…
If you can harness the energy of passion into your daily work, you will become unstoppable. This is the spark of having a successful business mindset.
3 Goal-Oriented
Once you have sight of your vision and you are filled up with passion, you must start chipping away with your goals.
Goals are the steps that keep you on track of reaching the mountain top. You can see it in your mind, but now it is time to take smaller steps to bring your vision into reality.
There are long-term and short-term goals.
Just like losing weight. You can’t just lose 50 pounds in one week. This is going to take a while and if you do it right you can keep your mind focused on your progress instead of your failures.
But if you set some daily and weekly goals, you will start seeing some results which will trigger some positive emotional connections to reaching your long-term goals.
By losing 5 to 10 pounds a week you will reach your 50-pound mark in approximately 10 weeks. Each week you see the progress which fills you up with excitement. This pulls you along towards your destination.
Success in any area of your life is all about the mental game. Doing goals in the right way will help entice your mind to work for you and not against you.
When we built our house, it seemed impossible at the time. There was so much that needed to happen. But when we started setting daily and weekly goals, we were able to stay on track. Then when a year went by, we finally brought our dreams into reality.
It was very tough, but we were pulled by the passion and the feeling of living in our house. This pulled us through all the late nights after work. the frustration, the sweat, and the tears.
I won’t lie to you, it was far from easy. When people come over and see our house, they only see the end result. They don’t see the blood, the sweat, and the tears that went into this project. But that is what it takes to reach your goals.
Step 4 Read
Reading is one of the biggest ways to develop a successful entrepreneurial mindset. Because what you fill into your mind will become molded through the power of intention. Because it is scientifically proven that we can rewire our brains.
Neurons that fire together wire together.
What you think about you will become. So, the more positive, encouraging, and self-development you can feed your mind, the more likely you will automatically become this person.
Your mind is like a sponge and what you feed it, will become your belief system. An athlete knows they cannot just workout their muscles because their mind is what tells the muscles what to do.
So, if you are going into the entrepreneurial world with the same mentality you had at your job, you will fail.
I have spent the last decade listening to audible on my way to work. Plus I read a chapter when I wake up, and before I go to bed. This has drastically changed my mindset for the better.
5 Change Your Environment
It has been proven that you will make within 10% of the people you hang around with. Your mind is constantly storing data from the people you hang around and then unconsciously creating your belief system.
This triggers impulses and reactions to different scenarios. Just like when a lottery winner ends up broke after so many years and begging for their jobs back.
The subconscious mind makes up over 90% of your results. This mind is very fast, it’s habitual, and it is automatic. But it was designed to be the servant to your conscious mind. In order to do this, you must be mindful and present of your bad habits.
When you change your environment, your mind will pick up on this shift and will try to fight you at first. But it takes about 21 days to create a habit. Once you make it through this benchmark your mind will adjust accordingly.
Not to mention the fact that most people are lazy. So, when you are surrounded by motivational people who keep you accountable, you are more likely to do the necessary work. But if you don’t and just listen to your own mind, then you will fall back to your bad habits.
This is why there is only 10% of successful entrepreneurs in the world. It is because they had the willpower and passion to keep moving forward.
One step at a time.
You can try doing on your own, but unless your vision is so strong, you will struggle.
Being a Successful Entrepreneur is Far from Being Easy
When it comes down to becoming a successful entrepreneur, there is a lot involved. But in the end, it is well worth it. Let’s face it. Becoming a successful entrepreneur who is making millions of dollars is far from being easy.
So, if anyone tells you otherwise, RUN…
It takes time, persistence, patience, and perseverance.
In all honesty, you are going to fail a few hundred times before you succeed. Get over this fear and embrace it. It is all part of the process. You grow stronger by your failures and if passion isn’t in your corner, you will burn out.
Follow these steps and you will achieve that which you are seeking. Don’t give up. Keep getting back up when you get knocked down, and always keep moving forward.
